A month ago a follower I don’t know sent me a me A month ago a follower I don’t know sent me a message saying she had a vivid dream that I had been ignoring an aspect of my health, and by the time I took care of it, it was too late.

She acknowledged it was weird, but said she felt compelled to tell me.

I had a few moles on my body that changed during my recent pregnancy - one on my arm that would always bleed and never heal. I had been ignoring it, but her message prompted me to get a dermatologist referral.

3 spots were removed. They looked “fine” but my dermatologist sent them to the lab just in case.

This week I got a call. I had basal cell carcinoma on my arm. I was told “it was a really good thing” you came in to the clinic. I need to go back now for a more thorough full body exam and they may need to excise more tissue...waiting for a follow up appointment now.

BCC is the most common form of skin cancer. It still feels bizarre saying I have a form of “skin cancer.”

I was reckless in my youth. I was a tanning bed regular. I convinced myself it was harmless. I wish I could take it all back.

But above all, I’m humbled and grateful. The universe clearly has my back. Thank you to the angel who sent me that message.

Wear sunscreen. And be open to receiving messages from the universe. ❤️

PANDEMIC PODCAST - THAT’S A WRAP! If you’d ha PANDEMIC PODCAST - THAT’S A WRAP!

If you’d have told us we’d launch the @wegotherepodcast in the middle of a year long on-and-off lockdown during a pandemic with a newborn babies & toddlers at home, we would’ve laughed at you. Legit laughed. Hysterically. 😂 #getouttahere

Some days it feels like a miracle that we’ve pulled it off! From recording in shoe closets and bathrooms to escape noisy children, to midnight brainstorming sessions by text to driving our editor Julian crazy (we love you Julian!) with last minute tweaks - Season One has been a labour of love.

Our final @wegotherepodcast episode of Season One is a pelvic floor update from Lexi @waxonlexi sharing her journey with incontinence and me sharing my 6 week postpartum diagnosis of “low bladder neck” that was a major mind f*ck to be honest!

We are SO excited for Season Two and have some really special guests and important conversations planned for you. ✨

Thank you for being here. It means so much. If you have a topic you’d like to see us cover at @wegotherepodcast, we love nothing more than your suggestions and requests! ❤️

PELVIC FLOOR CONNECTION This series helps you ne PELVIC FLOOR CONNECTION

This series helps you neurologically reconnect to your pelvic floor and deepest abdominal muscles. I was 28 weeks pregnant with baby # 2 here but this is great for ANYONE - during pregnancy, postpartum or any time. It’s harder than it looks!

The weight and pressure of the growing fetus - not to mention both vaginal and caesarean childbirth - can cause neurological “inhibition” making it harder for your brain to communicate with your pelvic floor muscles.

These moves can help prevent and repair this! All you need is a mini stability ball (dollar store toy ball can work too!)

✨SOUND ON FOR CUES ✨

1️⃣Pelvic Floor Balance (note - do NOT clench your butt to try to find balance! Use your TvA and pelvic floor)

2️⃣Forearm Side Plank

3️⃣Side Plank Squeeze
💪 Try 3 rounds, 10 -15 reps each

Tag and share!👩‍❤️‍💋‍👩

We want to continue to “pump” the pelvic floor during pregnancy. Many women are afraid of getting “too tight” as they approach birth and stop all pelvic floor activation. Unless you have been told you have chronically shortened “hypertonic” muscles (rare), stopping all activation is not smart. Most of the time, pelvic floor tension is fear & over protection related and not actually chronically shortened muscle tissue.

THE KEY: keep up your pelvic floor work throughout pregnancy to continue circulating blood & lymphatic fluid. Well oxygenated muscles are more resilient to tearing and recover better. 💪

REDUCING FEAR OF BIRTH Birth is the ultimate act REDUCING FEAR OF BIRTH

Birth is the ultimate act of surrender, vulnerability & strength - regardless of how it happens.

During pregnancy I remember feeling like each passing day I was getting closer to the edge of a high diving board. There was no climbing down the ladder to safety. Soon, I’d be jumping into unknown depths, and I wasn’t sure I knew how to swim. 🤿

Fear is normal. Fear means you are human. Fear can be debilitating. But as I learned, fear can also be transformed into courage.

I asked you in stories to share the mantras that worked for you during labour. I got shivers reading them. Had to share here. ✨

Becoming a mother has made me feel more connected to womenkind than ever before. We may not give birth anymore surrounded by our mothers, aunts & sisters - but we can still create a powerful community of sisterhood & support.

That’s the reason I asked my doula @lorrifleming, creator of @theworldofmybaby to co-host our first ever Childbirth & Pushing Without Fear Workshop this Wednesday April 14, 7-9 pm EST. (Link in profile)

I credit Lorri for helping me realize my strength during birth. Lorri was a true gift, and I wish nothing more then to share her with every single pregnant person out there.

Do you have my more birth mantras or affirmations to add? Please share.
Did you have a doula? Would love to know ❤️

Hey New Mama, I see you planning your Zoom baby s Hey New Mama,

I see you planning your Zoom baby shower.

I see you going to your ultrasound appointments alone, knowing you’ll never be able to share that moment with your partner like you hoped.

This isn’t how any of us wanted it to be.

I see you doing birth classes virtually, wondering how you’re supposed to make new mama friends.

I see you missing out on that baby moon vacation, on grandparent visits and big friend celebrations.

The truth is, being pregnant in a pandemic means missing out on a pregnancy journey that was supposed to be different.

My two babies were born in 2018 and 2020. Being pregnant with my 2nd during the pandemic was NOT the same - less human connection, less support, less in-person medical attention and less celebration.

My heart aches for first time moms now who are dealing with a level of isolation and anxiety we’ve never known before.

All this to say - you’re not alone in this. Mothers around the world are feeling it. You are in good company. ❤️

And one day, we will tell our babies that they were born in a pandemic, and they will look into our eyes and realize just how strong their mothers have always been.

Please tag a mama who needs this reminder ✨💪

SELF-LOVE I’ve struggled with this term to be h SELF-LOVE

I’ve struggled with this term to be honest.
What does it really mean? It gets thrown around a lot.

Sometimes it looks like prioritizing your health - like when I finally got my moles checked last week at the dermatologist.

Sometimes it is looking at your scars and sending a message of gratitude to your body for all it has done to heal you.

Sometimes self-love is stopping comparisons and pausing to focus on just how far you have come. ✨

Here’s your reminder
1️⃣ You are enough
2️⃣ You have overcome so much already
3️⃣ You are strong & resilient

Thank you to my friend @_anaallen who created this Self Love t-shirt with Vancouver @shophomebodythebrand. Despite being in the middle of a long battle with infertility, Ana still has messages of support for other women, encouraging us all to show ourselves more compassion. ❤️

Ana you are an inspiration.

What does self love mean to you?
