You can't rush this! This video was sped up about 1.5 times. Go slow, focus on precise, mindful movements and watch your body transform. Remember to breathe - exhale during the exertion! These are similar to the exercises in our 12-Week Core Challenge. 

I am a big fan of reformer Pilates (been teaching reformer since 2008!), but they can be expensive, and not available everywhere! 

Try this next time you are craving a little extra deep core, total body workout.

PSA: tucking your pelvis is bad news for your pelv PSA: tucking your pelvis is bad news for your pelvic floor. 

WHY? Because you lose the bony support of your pubic bone. Your organs rely solely on your muscles for support. Not great if you’re dealing with leaking or prolapse. 

If I could only go back and have a word with my childhood dance teacher who forced us to all suck and tuck it in. She was pretty epic 😆

FIX IT: 
✔️Unclench your butt, keep a small curve in your lower back opposite your navel 

✔️Stop sucking your stomach in. Ladies I know it can take some unlearning. Been there. But your pelvic floor will be sooo much happier. 

✔️Strengthen your butt. Tucking makes your butt fall asleep. A stronger booty will help keep you in good alignment. 👌

Did anyone else have a really intense dance teacher in their youth? I mean we won lots of competitions. But it’s taken a lot of time to undo the sucking and tucking!!!

2️⃣ Is this loose skin or diastasis recti or just belly fat? 
3️⃣ Is it too late to fix this? 
4️⃣ Do I need surgery? 

I'd love to know your questions in the comments below! One thing I like to tell my students - this came up in this week's live class I taught for the Core Restore course - is that once they master their technique, every exercise is "safe". 

It comes down to the breath and how you manage pressure during exercise. 

Newsflash: crunches are not "unsafe". 

We need to be able to train back forward flexion at some point. 

No, a gazillion crunches isn't the answer. But neither is avoiding them like the plague because we think they are off limits because our core muscles are ripped apart. 

Diastasis happens to people with all body compositions. I'll never forget one of the most severe cases of diastasis was on a 5 foot 1, 95 pound client of mine.

Yes, hospital birth can look like this —calm, co Yes, hospital birth can look like this —calm, connected, and on your terms.

This was a large level 3 hospital in Toronto. I was considered “high risk” and under the care of an OB—and still, this birth felt grounded, supported, and peaceful.

What made the difference?
Education. Self-advocacy. Support. 

You have a voice in your birth experience, and you deserve to use it.

Having a doula by my side (you can hear @lorrifleming guiding my breath in the video) was a huge part of that support. After the birth, my OB told her in the hallway:
“Thank you for allowing me to witness a physiological birth.”

But let’s be clear:
Empowered birth doesn’t look one way.
It’s not about unmedicated vs medicated, hospital vs home, vaginal vs cesarean.

It’s about how you were treated.
Did you feel seen? Respected? Informed? Heard?
That’s what empowerment truly is.

It is my deepest wish that everyone giving birth - no matter where or how - feels held in their power, dignity, and choice. Because how we’re treated during birth stays with us. It shapes how we see ourselves, our bodies, and our worth.

Your birth experience matters.
It’s why I created the Prenatal Pilates & Push Prep course.
It’s why I’ll never stop this work.
